About the treatment
How it works
Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid of any injectable skin treatment. Once placed, it spreads through the tissue over the following days instead of staying where it was injected.
As it disperses it hydrates the skin from within and stimulates collagen and elastin. It does not change the shape of the face. People choose it when their skin has started to look tired, dry or less firm.
Your appointment
What happens, step by step
Consultation
We talk through your concerns and medical history, examine the area and explain your options, the cost and the risks. You can take time to think it over.
Preparation
On the day we confirm your consent, take photographs for your record, and cleanse the skin.
Treatment
Five small injections are placed on each side of the face at set points. It takes around ten minutes.
Afterwards
You leave with written aftercare advice and our number. We check how you have settled at a review if one is needed.
Before
Preparing for your appointment
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment
- Tell us about any medication or supplements you take, including blood thinners. Do not stop prescribed medication without speaking to your GP
- Let us know if you are unwell, have a skin infection or a cold sore in the area, as we may need to rebook
- Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as treatment is not carried out during this time
- Come with clean skin and no make-up on the area if you can
After
Looking after yourself afterwards
- Small raised bumps at the injection points are normal and usually settle within 24 hours
- Do not massage the area
- Leave make-up off for the rest of the day
- Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and steam rooms for 24 hours
- Book your second session for four weeks later

How is it given?

Is there downtime?

Most people repeat the course about every six months.
