Anti-wrinkle consultations
If lines on your forehead, between your brows or around your eyes bother you, the first step is a face-to-face consultation. We assess how your face moves, talk through your options and, if treatment is suitable for you, agree a plan.

About the treatment
How it works
Expression lines form where the muscles of the face fold the skin again and again: when you frown, raise your brows or smile. Over time those lines stay even when your face is at rest. Treatment works by relaxing the specific muscles responsible, so the skin above them smooths out.
Because the medicines used are prescription-only, the process always begins with a face-to-face consultation with a prescriber. They take a medical history, watch how your face moves and decide whether treatment is appropriate. Many people are suitable, some are not, and you are under no obligation to go ahead.
Your appointment
What happens, step by step
Consultation
We talk through your concerns and medical history, examine the area and explain your options, the cost and the risks. You can take time to think it over.
Preparation
On the day we confirm your consent, take photographs for your record, and cleanse the skin.
Treatment
If treatment is prescribed for you, a series of very small injections is placed with a fine needle. It takes a few minutes and most people describe a brief scratch.
Afterwards
You leave with written aftercare advice and our number. We check how you have settled at a review if one is needed.
Before
Preparing for your appointment
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment
- Tell us about any medication or supplements you take, including blood thinners. Do not stop prescribed medication without speaking to your GP
- Let us know if you are unwell, have a skin infection or a cold sore in the area, as we may need to rebook
- Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as treatment is not carried out during this time
- Come with clean skin and no make-up on the area if you can
After
Looking after yourself afterwards
- Stay upright for four hours and avoid lying face down
- Do not rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours
- Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and steam rooms for 24 hours
- Leave facials and facial massage for two weeks
- Expect results to develop gradually; we review them with you at around two weeks
Questions
Frequently asked
Why do I need a consultation first?
The treatments used for expression lines are prescription-only medicines. They can only be provided after a face-to-face assessment with a qualified prescriber, who decides whether treatment is appropriate for you.
Will I look frozen?
Our aim is a rested look with natural movement. We would rather under-treat and adjust at your review than over-treat.
What are the side effects?
Small bumps, redness or bruising at the injection sites are common and short-lived. Less common effects, such as a temporary heaviness of the brow or eyelid, are explained at your consultation.
What should I avoid afterwards?
For the first 24 hours avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and rubbing the treated area.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Many clients combine it with skin treatments or filler as part of a wider plan, which we can discuss at your consultation.
