About the treatment
How it works
HarmonyCA is made of two ingredients that do different jobs. Hyaluronic acid gives immediate lift and hydration. Calcium hydroxyapatite, a mineral found naturally in the body, sits in the tissue and encourages the skin to produce its own collagen over the following months.
The result is an initial improvement in contour followed by a gradual gain in firmness. It is used on the cheeks and lower face in people who want more than a standard filler can give but are not looking for surgery.

What happens, step by step
Consultation
We talk through your concerns and medical history, examine the area and explain your options, the cost and the risks. You can take time to think it over.
Preparation
On the day we confirm your consent, take photographs for your record, and cleanse the skin.
Treatment
After numbing, the product is placed beneath the skin of the cheek and lower face with a cannula, fanned out from one or two entry points on each side.
Afterwards
You leave with written aftercare advice and our number. We check how you have settled at a review if one is needed.
Before
Preparing for your appointment
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment
- Tell us about any medication or supplements you take, including blood thinners. Do not stop prescribed medication without speaking to your GP
- Let us know if you are unwell, have a skin infection or a cold sore in the area, as we may need to rebook
- Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as treatment is not carried out during this time
- Come with clean skin and no make-up on the area if you can
After
Looking after yourself afterwards
- Avoid touching or rubbing the area, and leave make-up off for the rest of the day
- Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and steam rooms for 24 to 48 hours
- Sleep with your head slightly raised on the first night if you have swelling
- Use a cool compress for swelling, and expect any bruising to fade over a few days
- Avoid facials, facial massage and dental work for two weeks
- Call us straight away if you have increasing pain, pale or mottled skin, or any change in vision

Frequently asked
How is it different from standard filler?
Standard hyaluronic acid filler adds volume. HarmonyCA also contains calcium hydroxyapatite, which encourages the skin to produce collagen, so firmness continues to build after treatment.
How long does it last?
Typically 12 to 18 months.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. We apply numbing cream beforehand, and most fillers also contain a local anaesthetic.
What are the side effects?
Redness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites are common and usually settle within a few days. Rarer, more serious risks exist with any filler treatment, and we explain them fully at your consultation before you decide.
Can it be dissolved?
Not in the same way as a pure hyaluronic acid filler, because of the calcium hydroxyapatite component. This is one of the things we discuss at consultation.
