About the treatment
How it works
Fat dissolving injections contain deoxycholic acid, a substance the body uses to break down dietary fat. Injected into a pocket of fat, it disrupts the walls of the fat cells in that area.
The body then clears the contents over the following weeks. We use Celluform for areas of the body and Celluform Plus for the face and under the chin. It is designed for small, defined areas that have not responded to diet and exercise.
Your appointment
What happens, step by step
Consultation
We talk through your concerns and medical history, examine the area and explain your options, the cost and the risks. You can take time to think it over.
Preparation
On the day we confirm your consent, take photographs for your record, and cleanse the skin.
Treatment
Numbing cream is applied and a grid is marked on the skin. Small amounts of solution are then injected at each point, around 20 injections per area.
Afterwards
You leave with written aftercare advice and our number. We check how you have settled at a review if one is needed.
Before
Preparing for your appointment
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours beforehand
- Drink plenty of water in the days before
- Tell us about any medication or supplements you take
- Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as treatment is not carried out during this time
- Have something to eat before your appointment
After
Looking after yourself afterwards
- Expect swelling, redness, tenderness and some bruising for several days
- Wear loose clothing over the area
- Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and steam rooms for 48 hours
- Drink plenty of water
- Call us if swelling or pain is getting worse rather than better

How does it work?
The solution is injected in a grid pattern across the area. It disrupts the fat cells, which the body then removes naturally.
What does it feel like afterwards?
Swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising are common and can last several days. Swelling under the chin can be noticeable for a week or so.
How should I prepare?
Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours beforehand and drink plenty of water.
Is it a weight-loss treatment?
No. It works best on small areas in people who are close to their usual weight.
